On a somewhat releated note, I think every computer science intro 101 course should include topics like the basics of version control, an intro to agile project management and working as part of a team or group, and at least one small group project where you actually had to put these principals into practice and collaborate in order to complete the assignment... each course should build on this stuff teaching practical applications of technology...

Such a simple but true representation of the academic / real world of software development. I completely agree as well. Topics like version control, two week sprints, QA, how to distribute work flow..etc all seem to be missing from entry level programmer's toolbox.
Version control & groups
I'm studing Computer Ingeniering at UAM (Universidad Autonoma de Madrid) University. We are first studing with Bolonia study plains, and we make a lot of works in small groups. But, using any type of control version, come from ours (Well in a subject, they seta SVN server to use with Netbeans, but they not teach anything about how SVN works...) I used GIT and SVN for doing our programming works in the team, but I self-learned it !
Note : Sorry for my bizarre English... I have to geta train and I'm typing dirty and fast...
